Swing Bar
Max’s Lakeside Grill and Swing Bar inhabit a historic cabin site at North Georgia’s Lake Rabun. Preserving the building required flexibility and creativity to restore and reinforce the failing structure while preserving architectural details and creating space for two new concepts. Upstairs, Max’s coal fired pizzas are served in the cabin or on the wrap-around porch complete with a reclaimed boat hull found while sourcing antique timbers for the building. The real gem is below deck where an open-air swing bar welcomes guests who dock their boats and make their way up the newly designed path, past a comissioned mural by a local artist. When they reach the bar they can swing the day away in custom designed swings, play a game of shuffleboard and snap a selfie under the custom neon signs while sipping boozey slushies.
